【摘要】:Thedegreeoffiberizationorsubdivisionoftheasbestosfiberbundlesinaspecimenisrelatedtoitsresistancetoairflow.Thenumberandsizeoftheporesinthespecimenareafunctionofthesizeofthefiberbundlesanddeterminetheresistancetoairflowthroughtheplug.Testspecimensthathaveundergoneahigherdegreeoffiberizationwillyieldhigherresultsprovidedthespecimenscomparedareofsimilarspecificgravitiesandotherpropertiesarenotmarkedlydifferent.Thesetestmethodsaresuitableforspecificationacceptance,manufacturingcontrol,development,andappliedresearch.Itmustnotbeassumedthatalltestspecimenswithequaltestresultshaveundergoneequivalentdegreesoffiberization.Sometypesofasbestosfiberizemorereadilythanothers.Particlesizedistributionandharshnesscanalsoinfluencepermeability.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthemeasurementoftherelativedegreeofopennessordegreeoffiberizationofmilledasbestosfiberbyairpermeabilityinstruments.1.2MethodAistherecommendedprocedureanddescribesadeterminationbymeansoftheRapidSurfaceAreaapparatus.Thistestmethodislimitedtofiberswithaneffectivesurfaceareaintherangefrom10to250dm2/g(490to12000ft2/lb).1.3MethodBisanalternativeprocedureandcoverstheuseoftheDyckerhoffapparatus.Thistestmethodislimitedtofiberswithintherangefrom10to600Dyckerhoffseconds.1.4Onlythoseasbestosspecimenswhichareofsimilarspecificgravitieswillbearstrictcomparisonbytheseairpermeabilitymethodssincedifferencesindensityresultinspecimensbeingtestedunderdifferentconditionsofporosity.1.5Samplescontainingexcessivequantitiesofnonfibrousparticlesorcontaminantswillnotgivereliableormeaningfulresults.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.1.7Breathingofasbestosdustishazardous.Asbestosandasbestosproductspresentdemonstratedhealthrisksforusersandforthosewithwhomtheycomeintocontact.Inadditiontootherprecautions,whenworkingwithasbestos-cementproducts,minimizethedustthatresults.Forinformationonthesafeuseofchrysotileasbestos,referto"SafeUseofChrysotile:AManualonPreventiveandControlMeasures."Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
